Abstract
This Final Report describes results of the Computer-Based Information System (CBIS) project conducted for the Integrated Computer Aided Manufacturing (ICAM) Program. This project (Priority 3101) defined the requirements of a computer network that would integrate the functions of aerospace batch manufacturing. This Final Report is presented in four volumes. This part, Volume 4, is a State-of-the-Art Document, which describes technologies (such as distributed processing, database management, and transaction processing) thought to be relevant to a future CBIS. The other volumes are a Summary and Overview (Vol. 1), a System Requirements Document (Vol, 2), and a System Environment Document (Vol. 3).
