Sheet Metal Fabrication Systems. Volume 1. Preliminary Designs.

Abstract

Preliminary designs for blanking and bending sheet metal work cells are developed based upon established aerospace manufacturing requirements and current technology assessments. Levels of automation are established utilizing advanced state-of-the-art and emerging technologies. Flexible manufacturing systems are established that incorporate interactive operator cell control coupled to CAD systems for both cells. These designs are recommended for Phase III implementation based upon economic returns and projected productivity increases. The addendum to this report covers detailed project simulation and modeling work. (Author)
