METSAT (Meteorological Satellite) Imagery Interpretation Guide.

Abstract

This technical note provides descriptions and photograph examples of cloud/earth phenomena as seen from polar-orbiting and geostationary meteorological satellites(METSATS). It begins with a look at basic cloud types, covers comma cloud systems, low-and high-level wind flow cloud patterns and ends with miscellaneous cloud/earth phenomena. It is meant as a quick reference to help in METSAT imagery interpretation, and can serve as a portion of a unit's METSAT Imagery Reference File (MIRF).
