Abstract

A synthesis laboratory has been established for the preparation of compounds to be evaluated against viruses of interest to U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases. The synthesis of known compounds as well as new compounds has been undertaken, and all compounds are being made in sufficient quantity to allow for full evaluations. Types of compounds prepared thus far include 1-benzyloxyadenosines, amidines, 1,2,4,5,3,6-tetraazadiphosphorines, substituted imidazoles, and several compounds derived from ascorbic acid. Keywords: antiviral agents.
