Synthesis of Nucleoside Analogues with Potential Antiviral Activity Against Negative Strand RNA Virus Targets.

Abstract

The purpose of this work is to synthesis nucleoside analogues which are targeted against the replicase of negative-strand viruses. Two lines of investigation have been started: (i) the synthesis of 5-vinyl substituted pyrimidine ribonucleosides and (ii) the synthesis of potential ribonucleoside 5' -triphosphate analogues. A series of compounds of type (i) have been synthesised and submitted for biological evaluation. One compound of type (ii) has been made and further work is in progress. Keywords: Antiviral agents; Chemical analogs; Synthesis(Chemistry); Chemotherapy.
