Automated Structural Optimization System (ASTROS). Volume 2. User's Manual

Abstract

The ASTROS (Automated Structural Optimization System) procedure provides a multidisciplinary analysis and design capability for aerospace structures. The engineering analysis capabilities in the system include structural analysis (static and dynamic), aeroelastic analysis (static and dynamic) and automated design. A specifically designed data based and executive system were implemented to maximize the system's efficiency, flexibility, and maintainability. This report is the User's Manual for the ASTROS system. As such, it contains description of the input data, which is made up of four optional packets: (1) Debug, (2) Executive system, (3) Solution control, and (4) Bulk data packets. ASTROS output is also described in order to permit interpretation of results. Appendices give detailed information on data preparation and on the use of advanced features that permit the user to modify the standard execution of ASTROS.
