Human Factors Engineering Knowledge-Base Development Study.

Abstract

In the effort reported here, the approach to providing a validated Human Factors Engineering (HFE) knowledge base, material design and acquisition management expertise, and heuristics relevant to HFE material developments is described, along with accomplishments, pursuant to potential structuring a definitive-AI techniques to develop a knowledge based system to assist the HF engineer in the generation of HFE program requirements in RFPs. A literature search of information available in the TACTEC Information Analysis Center was conducted. TACTEC holdings, applicable to the program objective, were reviewed, analyzed, and supplemented with staff expertise, to provide knowledge base information for development of automated HFE design and program inputs to RFPs. Keywords: Human factors; Human engineering; Program requirements; Knowledge based systems; Statement of work; Request for proposal. (JHD)
