Drug Development against Parasitic Diseases: Synthesis of the Antimalarial Agent Qinghaosu and Analogs.
Abstract
Major accomplishments under this contract include an optimized, stereoselective, total synthesis of (+)-artemisinin (qinghaosu); the synthesis of several analogs of qinghaosu that possess good in vitro antimalarial activity; publication of one paper; filing of four patents; and compilation of data sufficient to warrant the preparation of four manuscripts for publication.
