Determination of the In Vitro and In Vivo Activity of Compounds Tested Against Punta Toro Virus.

Abstract

In Vitro Evaluation of Test Compounds Against Adames Strain Punta Toro Virus: 139 AVS compounds were evaluated one or more times against the Adames strain of Punta Toro virus (PTV) in LLC-MK2 cells. The PTV-inhibitory compounds were AVS01 (run as a positive control), 4071, 4235, 4271, 4279, 4280, 4281, 4592, 4611, 4617, 4785, 4795, 4996, and 4798. In Vitro Evaluation of Test Compounds Against Balliet Strain Punta Toto Virus: The following AVS compounds were considered active in vitro against the Balliet strain of PTV: AVSO1 (used as positive control), 3705, 4071, 4113, 4116, 4216, 4592, 4611, 4617, and 4785. Effect of AVS Compounds on Hepatotropic Infection in Mice Induced by the Adames Strain of Punta Toro Virus: A total of 80 in vivo anti-PTV experiments have been run with 28 AVS compounds using the Adames strain of PTV. Promising compounds include AVSO65, 215, 1754, 1761, 2149, 2700, 2776, 2778, 2779, 2933, 3706, 4282, 4285, 4617, 5079, and 5587. Effect of AVS Compounds on Intracerebral Infections in Mice Induced by the Balliet Strain of Punta Toto Virus: Fifteen AVS compounds were evaluated. Compounds AVS01, 253, 2776, and 3934 were moderately effective.
