Feasibility of a Subunit Vaccine for Hepatitis A Virus.

Abstract

The overall goals of this contrast are to explore the feasibility of the development of subunit vaccine for hepatitis A virus (HAV). We have produced HAV structural proteins by recombinant DNA technology and characterized tham as antigens for the induction of protective immunity. We have analyzed the replication strategies of HAV which contribute to its distinguishing growth properties and we have identified the HAV protein 3C as a viral protease. We have evaluated the human response to HAV infection.
