Simian Hemorrhagic Fever (SHF) Virus. Phase 1.

Abstract

Previous published reports on the number of SHFV structural proteins present inconclusive and conflicting data. Therefore our initial experiments were aimed at developing purification methods for obtaining SHFV as free of contaminating cell proteins as possible and at identifying the viral specific proteins in these purified virus preparations. SHFV was found to be relatively fragile and discontinuous glycerol gradient purification was found to give the best yields of intact virus. Western blot analysis and detergent treatment were then used to identify the SHFV proteins in the purified virion preparations.
