Development of a Controlled Release Delivery System for Immunogens. Phase 2.

Abstract

The development program addresses the problem of effectively protecting military personnel from bacterial, viral or toxic incapacitation arising either from natural sources of from enemy action. Often the potential threat may be anticipated and personnel may be offered protection in the form of vaccination regimens, but even when the danger is identified and the prophylaxis is readily available, logistical problems in carrying out a protective program remain formidable. Immunization is presently conferred through a vaccination program which involves multiple encounters with trained medical personnel for administration of injections, and careful medical record maintenance. For the Army this is not just a medical mission, it is a major logistical program. RA I; Inoculation; Hepatitis A Vaccine; SBIR; Controlled Release Vaccine.
