Abstract

This report presents CHAMPUS expenditures for the New Orleans, LA and Atlanta, GA Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) defined by the Bureau of the Census. For Fiscal Year (FY) 1988 through August FY 1992, for all branches of service, Appendices A and B summarize costs for types of service such as hospitalizations, ambulatory professional services, designated handicapped cases, beneficiary drugs, etc. New Orleans data are presented in Appendix A; Atlanta results are in Appendix B. These appendices are ordered by branch of service, by fiscal year, by whether the scope is the primary city or its surrounding metropolitan area, and by type of service. Amounts billed by the health care provider, allowed by the fiduciary intermediary, paid by the patient, paid by others, and paid by the government are shown. Appendices C and D are corollary reports relisting hospitalization data from Appendices A and B respectively, additionally showing for each fiscal year and branch of service, the corresponding number of admissions, dispositions, and bed days, with the average admission length of stay and average disposition length of stay.
