Anisoplanatism in Adaptive Optics

Abstract

This paper discusses the influence of the compensatory effect due to the anisoplanatic field in adaptive optics, and proposes a new method, a phase gradient method to reduce the error in anisoplanatism. As shown by analytical results, this method can significantly increase the range of angles for effective calibration; thus, the influence on the anisoplanatic error is greatly reduced. The authors anticipate that the phase gradient method can be expected to solve beacon anisoplanatic problem problem in adaptive optics.
