Surface Ground Device

Abstract

This report details the concept, theory, prototype design and technical feasibility testing of the Surface Ground Device. The Surface Ground Device is a novel earth ground designed to provide a rapid means of electrically grounding mobile equipment. Basic grounding theory is discussed, with particular emphasis on the Surface Ground Device In the report, resistance models are developed from basic electromagnetic theory for several grounding systems including the Surface Ground Device. Test results are compared to theoretical predictions and test results from other grounding systems. Preliminary results suggest that this device has promise as a suitable alternative for earth grounding mobile electrical equipment. Grounding, Electrical grounding, Surface ground device.
