Design, Manufacture and Deliver a Fully Automated Instrument to Measure, Record and Analyze the Oxygen Equilibrium Curve of Blood. Phase 2

Abstract

This was a Phase II SBIR program to design, develop, produce and deliver a standard instrument to measure the oxygen equilibrium curve of blood, and/or hemoglobin solutions. This was done. An instrument was produced that operates under DOS based computer control to carry out the necessary operations and measurements. It uses pumps that we developed to add reagents to solutions under test, electrochemical probes to measure O2 and CO2 pressures in solution, maintains constant CO2 pressure during the test, maintains temperature constant to better than +/- 0.1 deg C over the range 15 to 50 deg C, provides for in situ calibration of the electrochemical probes and records and stores the data. The instrument is small and readily portable.
