Facility Inreach Strategy to Promote Annual Mammography

Abstract

The primary purpose of this study is to increase annual return rates for screening mammography among asymptomatic women aged 50 and older. Specific project objectives include: (a) To develop an intervention aimed at promoting return mammogram adherence within 12-14 months following the last mammogram. The intervention will consist of an appointment reminder letter. (b) To refine and standardize a comparison reminder letter. (c) To implement and monitor the proposed interventions at six mammography facilities in San Diego, California. (d) To evaluate the effectiveness of the primary care physician's letter. A secondary purpose is to increase the understanding of the factors that influence interval adherence to mammography.
