Shock Tube, Piezoelectric Gauges, and Recording Apparatus

Abstract

The purposes of this report are: 1. to provide a manual covering the design, operation, and calibration of a blast tube for producing shock waves of known pressure-time characteristics; 2. to review the work done in studying the response of piezoelectric gauges subjected to step-function shocks in a tube; and 3. to describe the electronic equipment used to record gauge output.
