Intermediate Frequency Amplifiers Overload Characteristics
Abstract
Performance of IF amplifier tubes under conditions of jamming or interference is important in receiver design. Curves are given for analyzing overloading effects within an IF amplifier and comparing various IF tube types regarding overloading. Data for curves are made by measuring pulse gain of a test stage over a wide range of CW (jamming signal) input voltages. Test procedure and equipment are described in detail. Discussion of apparent cause of complete collapse of some tubes is included.
