Stress Analysis of Vertical Surfaces,

Abstract

A stress analysis is made of the vertical tail surfaces of the XB-36 bomber. Using methods previously employed, loads, yaw and gust conditions, rudder shears and bending moments, rudder structural characteristics, tab effects and rudder torsions, rudder pressure distributions, and net rudder spar shear flows have been determined. Summaries are included of design loads and rudder hinge loads. Results of the analysis are shown in tables, diagrams, graphs, and formulas.
