Cooling of Gas Turbines. 6 - Computed Temperature Distribution through Cross Section of Water-Cooled Turbine Blade

Abstract

Theoretical analysis application was made of temperature distribution through cross section of water-cooled turbine blade for a specific turbine. Variations in temperature distribution through changes in thermal conductivity and different hot-gas-to-metal heat transfer coefficients were determined. Results show that a coolant passage about one-fourth inch from the trailing edge would probably keep trailing edge temperature under the limit set by current metals.
