Chamber Tests with Human Subjects 8. Evaluation of Worn CC-2 Impregnated Clothing,

Abstract

This report represents an evaluation of the loss of H vapor protection by CC-2 impregnated clothing as the result of wear under service conditions. The results obtained in chamber tests of worn CC-2 clothing from three wearing trials conducted by this Laboratory are presented and discussed. It was found that there was a reasonable correlation between loss of Cl+ and loss of protective capacity. There was no indication of any significant difference for various types of standard and modified impregnations in this respect. However, it was indicated that reimpregnated clothing does not lose protective capacity as rapidly as the original clothing despite a comparable loss of Cl+. The results indicated that 0.15 mg. Cl+/cm.square (3% CC-2) is a satisfactory reimpregnation value for solvent or stabilized solvent type impregnated clothing, but that a value of 0.20 mg. Cl+/cm.square (4% CC-2) would be more satisfactory for aqueous or modified aqueous type impregnations.
