Interpretation Facility for Synthetic Aperture Radar

Abstract

NRL has developed a mini-computer based facility for collecting, processing, and displaying synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data and imagery. Data collection equipment includes an airborne wideband digital tape recorder for collecting raw SAR data and a dual-mode digitizing photometer/densitometer for digiting film-recorded data. Raw SAR data may be processed into imagery either with an optical correlator or with a digital computer. Image manipulation is under interactive control. Working imagery is displayed with a computer controlled pseudo-color TV display system.
