Improved Erosion Resistant Materials.
Abstract
The feasibility of reinforced ceramic as erosion resistant nosetip materials has been investigated by Avco. Candidate materials were selected. Parts were fabricated and tested in both erosion and ablation test facilities. Analyses were performed and test results analyzed. Conclusions are drawn and the most promising candidate of those evaluated is identified. (Author)
