Engineering Design of INLAW. Volume II. Program Plan and Projected Cost Estimates.

Abstract

The results of a preliminary engineering design study of an Infantry Laser Weapon (INLAW) system based on a repetitively pulsed electric discharge laser (EDL) are presented in this two-volume final technical report. The objective of the study was a conceptual design of an effective high energy laser weapon that could be mounted on a modified Mechanized Infantry Combat Vehicle (MICV) and capable of delivering energy onto selected areas of hostile targets so as to incapacitate or destroy the hostile system. The targets considered included personnel, sensors, optics, and both armored and non-armored vehicles.
