On the Possibility of Designing Wings That Combine Vortex Flows with Classical Aerofoil Flows.

Abstract

The possibility is considered of designing wings which combine coiled vortex sheets from the inner part of the leading edge with attached flow over the leading edge of the outer parts of the wing. In this way, some properties of slender wings would be combined with some of swept wings. The possible advantages and disadvantages of wings with mixed flows of this kind are discussed. (Author)
