Kingfisher

Abstract

Developments of construction of four Kingfisher weapons, which are radar-controlled, subsonic, medium-ranged, jet-powered missiles intended to deliver explosive charge below waterlines of marine targets, are presented. Model 0 is mainly an interim test missile to be used for developing components of other Kingfisher models. Model D will carry a homing torpedo with a built-in jet-propulsion engine. Model E will carry a Mark 35 deep-diving sonic-homing torpedo for use against submerged submarines. Model F will carry a nonhoming nonpowered plunge bomb.
