Fluorine Generating Solid Formulation for Use in Chemical Lasers.

Abstract

The patent application concerns a solid fluorine generating composition for use in a chemical laser which comprises a mixture of xenon tetrafluoride and polytetrafluoroethylene. The combustion products of this formulation are fluorine, xenon, and carbon tetrafluoride. The combustion temperatures and, therefore, the degree of fluorine dissociation can be readily controlled by altering the ratio of xenon tetrafluoride to polytetrafluoroethylene.
