A Closed System Autoclave.

Abstract

The invention disclosed in this application is a closed sterilization system for sterilization of surgical instruments and includes the unique combination of a sealable chamber for sterilizing instruments, a closed system for providing a water substitute for providing heat to the surgical instruments to be sterilized and a recovery system for reusing the water substitute. In one successful embodiment of the invention the water substitute is FC-75, a perfluorocarbon having a boiling point of 216F.
