Method and Means for Narrowband, Wide Field-of-View Filtering of Background Radiation.

Abstract

The patent application presents a method of and means for accomplishing narrowband, wide field-of-view filtering of background radiation by contouring and positioning a narrowband filter surface in such a way as to make it congruent with the focal surface of the collecting optics. Contouring of the focal surface is obtained by plotting the focal points for collimated light from various directions in a wide field of view. The focal surface thus obtained is coated with a filtering medium for transmission at the desired wavelength of impinging rays.
