Nearly Asymmetric Coupler.

Abstract

The patent application describes a microwave asymmetric directional coupler that has a pair of stripline transmission lines extending a predetermined amount adjacent each other along their length. The lines are bonded to opposite sides of a dielectric sheet and are designed to overlap each other along a portion of their length to define a coupling zone. The coupling between the lines changes along the length of the lines by incrementally changing the physical spacing between the lines so that the coupling goes from zero to a maximum and then rapidly to zero.
