Radar System for Moving Target Indication.

Abstract

The patent application relates to an airborne radar system for moving target indication in which fore and aft phased array antenna are mounted a selected distance apart on an airplane for electronic scanning to provide the capability of overlapping apertures in transmit/receive, or both. A slew control means and velocity-sensing means are applied to match the radar prf to the ground track velocity and for commutating at least one of said arrays on a time basis such that the two-way projection path from the phase center of the transmit beam to the phase center of the receive beam at every range gate remains constant over the aperture commutation interval and in which an N pulse (N being the number of apertures used in the commutation interval) digital moving target indicator filter is provided for cancelling out signals other than those received from moving targets for utilization of the latter in recognizing moving objects.
