Improved Hydroacoustic Transducer.

Abstract

The patent application relates to a small hydroacoustic transducer (source or receiver) which has an enhanced narrow-band low frequency response by reason of an acoustically interacting compliant gas filled bladder or bag located in the near vicinity. The combined dimensions of the transducer and the compliant bag are small compared to the wave lengths in water of the low frequency passband. Changing the volume of the compliant bag from a pressurized gas source shifts the center frequency of the passband.
