High Energy Laser Pointing and Tracking System.

Abstract

A laser pointing and tracking system that provides precision pointing of laser beams from both stationary and moving platforms, to both stationary and moving targets including a three gimbal, on gimbal telescope, inertial stabilization sub-system, an autoalignment subsystem, a tracking sensor and autoboresight subsystem, the system functions utilizing coaxial laser-optical beams, and a series of mirrors to detect differences in direction of the beam and reflect optical information to a receiver which controls servo systems that correct for errors in alignment.
