Shock Attenuating Washer.

Abstract

A washer was made of honeycomb material. Shock is attenuated when, upon application of the shock to the honeycomb washer, the washer is crushed. Greater attenuation of shock may be attained by filling cores and other voids in the honeycomb with additional shock attenuating material, such as rubber, synthetic resin, or epoxy resin. (Author)
