Lead-in-Paint Indicator Gel.

Abstract

An indicator gel for determining whether the lead content of a paint film exceeds safe limits is described. The gel composition includes an aqueous sulfide reagent, a solvent to enable the reagent to readily penetrate paint films and highly water-repelling coatings, and a thickener or gelling agent to allow a heavy coat of the reagent to adhere to vertical surfaces and ceilings, and retard evaporation of volatile ingredients.
