Electro-Acoustically Scanned Interferometer-Spectrometer.

Abstract

An electro-acoustically scanned interferometer is described in which radiant energy from a source of optical radiation enters an interferometer. Interference fringes are displayed in the output plane of the interferometer. The fringes are detected by an electro-acousto-optical sensor whose electrical output is proportional to the spatial frequency content of the fringes and, therefore, also the power spectrum of the original incident radiation.
