Ambient Pressure Lockout System.

Abstract

An ambient pressure lockout system which includes a pressure tube wherein one end of the tube is adapted to open into a low pressure environment and the other end of the tube is adapted to open into an ambient high pressure environment. A pair of spaced apart bulkheads are mounted in the tube so as to define a compartment therebetween. Each bulkhead includes a door which pivotally opens towards the high pressure environment and is stopped from opening toward the low pressure environment. Each bulkhead has a pressure relief device for equalizing the pressures on opposite sides of the door. In this manner objects can be transferred through the door openings between the differing pressure environments by utilizing the pressure relief devices to successively balance the pressures before opening each door.
