Recoil Motion Distributor for Flexible Ammunition Chuting.
Abstract
This document describes an improvement to flexible ammunition chuting having adjacent articulated chute frames and used with a high rate-of-fire machine gun of the Gatling type. A pair of identical flat springs conforming to the configuration of the chuting are affixed to the chuting, and interconnect a predetermined number of adjacent chute frames, at the feed end of the gun to which the chuting is releasably connected. The improvement distributes the shock, recoil, and oscillation of the fired gun along the articulations of the chuting in a controlled manner, thereby prolonging the useful life of the chuting.
