A Correction System for Photomultiplier Tube Nonlinearity.

Abstract

A photomultiplier tube nonlinearity correction system utilized a signal and a reference photomultiplier tube with the dynodes thereof being interconnected. Excess current in the signal photomultiplier tube causes an increase in its gain, a similar change in gain is experienced by the reference photomultiplier tube. The two gains are ratioed in succeeding circuitry, the net effect goes as the mismatch between tubes, rather than as the tube gain. (Author)
