Rigid Jointed Limbed Vehicle for Walking on Water with Flanged Feet.
Abstract
A programmable, self-propelled vehicle having articulated, segmented legs and adapted for amphibious locomotion by the use of buoyant, finned feet. The vehicle has a plurality of legs, each of which is composed of a plurality of rigid segments connected by joints through which power is supplied to the leg. Desired vehicle motion is dependent upon the programming and the number and type of leg. The vehicle strides on the surface of water through the use of pivotally moveable buoyant feet employing special high-drag moveable fins which permit rapid vehicle motion. The feet may also be pivoted to a land-use configuration permitting vehicular limbed locomotion on land. (Author)
