Abstract
This invention provides a new dye, 2-keto-4,6,8,8-tetramethyl-8,9-dihydro-2H-pyrano (3,2-g)quinoline and a method for its preparation. The method comprises the steps of mixing two readily available compounds, m-aminophenol and ethyl acetoacetate, and heating the mixture. The method appears suitable for use in the preparation of other similar quinolines. (Author)
