Ejector Force/Time Control.

Abstract

The combination of a stepped piston with gas port unclosing is provided to vary the effective piston area and meter gas simultaneously during the separation of missiles from launching aircraft. Sequentially exposing the metering ports permits flow restriction and, therefore, effective force control initially, plus a programmed buildup as piston velocity increases and pressure decays. The time to reach peak ejector force is increased, the peak force is decreased, and a higher ejector force is maintained for a longer period after peak force is attained. (Author)
