Semi-Active Missile Seeker Circuitry Compatible with Conventional Coherent and/or Spread Spectrum Radars.

Abstract

A semi-active missile homes in on reflected radar signals from the target. The seeker sends back to the radar system information concerning its internal coherent local oscillator which is proportional to the frequency of the reflected radar signal it receives. The radar system which illuminates the target adjusts its frequency output to compensate for the Doppler effect due to the relative motion of the seeker and the target, so that the seeker will always receive a constant frequency within limits.
