Expendable Line of Sight Transceiver.

Abstract

An inexpensive and therefore expendable transceiver/repeater which is adapted to be launched by a hand-held flare-type of gun in order to establish a line of sight communication link in an emergency or other appropriate environment. The transceiver unit includes a break-away projectile casing for housing the transceiver electronics, a parachute, and a weight or battery. The transceiver is preferably connected to the parachute and weight by a pair of wires which can form the antenna for the unit. (Author)
