ROACH Generator.

Abstract

A method and apparatus for generating holograms and similar phase/amplitude filters of the type referred to as ROACH, without using a computer. A light beam having the phase/amplitude information to be recorded is generated with an optical processor and an optical-electronic interface determines the phase and amplitude of the beam at a matrix of points in a plane and generates electrical signals corresponding thereto. The signals are used to control the intensities of different guns of a color CRT, and a frame of color film is exposed with the pattern displayed on the CRT. The developed frame comprises the hologram or spatial filter. (Author)
