Propellant Charge for Blank Ammunition.

Abstract

Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide small caliber blank cartridges with near constant ignition and combustion characteristics irrespective of the attitude of the cartridges at firing; a propellant charge capable of high gas generation rates upon ignition; and in which additional propellant cannot be deliberately or inadvertently added to the cartridge after it is loaded. The cartridge includes a hollow, cylindrically walled case, which is open at one end and terminates at a head at the other. An integrated porous propellant charge is placed within the case and a wad mounted to secure the charge within. (Author)
