Single-Fiber Connected Microphone-Type Acoustic-to-Electrical Transducer.

Abstract

A microphone-type acoustic-to-electric transducer is disclosed. The transducer comprises a light source coupled to a single optical fiber. The fiber conducts the light from the source to a reflecting diaphragm, while also conducting light reflected from the diaphragm to means for converting light pulses to electrical signals. The vibration of the diaphragm modulates the reflected light in accordance with the acoustic signals striking the diaphragm. (Author)
