Plating Area Calculator for Printed Circuit Boards.

Abstract

A method and apparatus is disclosed for calculating the relative areas of a photographic image or other object which transmits light to relatively different degrees. The technique generally comprises passing light through distinct portions of the image or object and measuring the degree to which the respective portions transmit light. The number of portions which are highly transmissive is compared to the number of portions which are relatively non-transmissive, thus giving a numerical indication of the relative areas of the transmissive and opaque portions of the image or object.
