Laser Scanner Detector of Incoming Projectiles.

Abstract

A generator of a continuous wave laser is located to direct a beam to a rotating beam splitter mirror. The reflected beam diverges approximately 10 percent, and is reflected by an incoming projectile to another mirror rotating with the first, where the pass-through beam and the projectile beam become coaxial and go to a detector which determines Doppler shift and angular position of the projectile. A signal analyzer broadcasts its data to the tank platoon commander's computer where data received from one or more tanks in the platoon are resolved to locate the weapon that fired the missile to enable efforts to destroy that weapon.
